Aamir Khan & kin advised to pay lagaan in UP

Actor Aamir Khan, who in his film Lagaan had opposed land tax, has been asked to deposit Rs. 818/- as rent by the local administration for the agricultural land held by him and his family here.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shahabad, Ashok Shukla has directed Aamir and his family members to clear the dues.

A letter in this regard has been given to the caretaker of Aamir’s ancestral house on Tuesday, the SDM said on Wednesday.

He said Aamir and his family members have ancestral land in Akhtiyaarpur village and the ‘lagaan’ was deposited every year.

Mr. Shukla said till September this year, ‘lagaan’ of Rs. 118.20 paise on Aamir, Rs. 606 on his sister Nikhat and Rs.93.75 paise on other family members, including Tahir, Raees, Bilkis Mansoor, totalling Rs.817.95 paise was not deposited. –PTI
