Not sure who owns the neighbouring vacant land? Want to find out the exact measurements of your local park or playground? Curiosity will not kill the cat in this case as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will make public records of over 5,000 properties, all of which will be made available online by May.
Citizens can access on BBMP website data about properties such as basic details, lease details, BDA details, survey and settlement records, fencing, property registration, orders and approvals, renewals, litigation and lease payment details.
As of February 2016, the civic body has generated Property ID (PID) numbers for 3,656 properties. PID numbers for another 1,073 are being generated. Discrepancy in records in respect of 53 properties are being verified and the details of the remaining 327 properties remain with the BBMP’s estate wing.
Who has what?
With property records scattered, the civic body was in no position to provide exact figures on parks and playgrounds.
