BENGALURU: If you have a good suggestion to transform Bengaluru into a smart city, you can win Rs 1 lakh. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which has the task of preparing a proposal for Bengaluru to compete in the league of 100 smart cities project of the Central government, launched a mobile app on Friday to seek suggestions and opinions from the general public.
As part of the process, the best vision statement will be awarded with Rs 1 lakh, said city Mayor BN Manjunath Reddy.
“The city of Bengaluru has got a second chance to participate in the Smart City league. We don’t want to miss out at any cost. Within 15 days we have to submit a detailed proposal to the central government and the newly lauched app is part of the exercise to get suggestions from the public,” he added.
All citizens have to do is to go to Google Play and download the “eye orta-smart city Namma Bengaluru” to make entries or log on to www.facebook.com/Smart-city-Namma-Bengaluru to post his or her opinion. Public can also send suggestions on BBMP website, Facebook page (BBMP Commissioner), twitter handle (@bbmpcomm1) within the next three weeks. There will be ward-wise meetings to get suggestions from citizens as well. Student bodies and research institutions can use the data accumulated on the platform to conduct their own analysis to help the civic body to prepare a plan.
