Faced with an acute shortage of funds, the BBMP has decided to conduct a total ‘station survey’ of all the tech parks and malls in the city.
The revenue department feels that many of the owners have not declared their property details according to the construction undertaken.
“The survey will boost the revenue of BBMP; it has decided to undertake the survey of all 77 tech parks and around 51 malls located at various parts of the city. If variations are found during the survey then a fine would be imposed on such properties,” said M K Gunashekhar, chairman for standing committee on taxation and finance.
Gunashekhar said that despite the civic agency adopting National Informatics Centre’s property tax filing system for the year 2016-17, taxpayers have faced many difficulties in filing their taxes and steps are being taken to resolve them. “Steps are being taken to collect taxes from those who have not paid property taxes for last 5-7 years.
Those who have already paid taxes can avail tax paid receipt from the BBMP’s website. Further those who have paid under value taxes will be served notices and will also be asked to pay the taxes,” he added.
