BENGALURU: BBMP officials and surveyors from the revenue department will take up a joint survey of various malls and tech parks in the city to check whether they have encroached any storm water drain.
A decision in this regard was taken at a review meeting held on Tuesday on the ongoing anti-encroachment drive.
“The drive is being done based on locations and related maps identified by surveyors. As and when surveyors zero in on encroachments, BBMP will take up the clearance exercise,” BBMP mayor BN Manjunath Reddy said.
Sources in the BBMP said several officials raised the issue of public anger against the civic body for not acting against biggies, including malls and tech parks which had allegedly encroached drains. They cited allegations being faced by a mall in Rajajinagar and another along Mysuru Road. The mayor asked the BBMP commissioner to conduct a survey of drains where malls and tech parks are facing allegations of encroachment.
It was also decided to form teams of engineers and other officials at zonal level to carry out clearance drive so that the joint commissioners are not overburdened.
