Cabinet sub-committee to probe unauthorised layout on BDA land

BELAGAVI: The Karnataka cabinet on Wednesday resolved to form a sub-committee to look into unauthorized layout constructions on land belonging to the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA).

At a meeting held late in the evening, the cabinet discussed the issue of unauthorized construction on BDA property at length.

On land parcels belonging to the BDA, thousands of unauthorized constructions had come up, with people even staying in these structures, sources said.

“The khatas too are registered under the BDA’s name,” said a minister, on condition of anonymity. Another minister pointed out that the sub-committee would look exclusively into unauthorized layouts that had come up on BDA properties, and not all illegal constructions that have sprung up in the city.

Sources in the government said the sub-committee would be headed by law minister TB Jayachandra, and would include Bengaluru-based ministers, Ramalinga Reddy and KJ George.
