CHANDIGARH: Coming new year, the city residents will be able to see some of the plans of Chandigarh Housing Board(CHB) shaping up. This includes e-auction of its left-out or old vacant flats in the city. Though e-auction was to start from August, it got deferred. CHB shall e-auction its commercial and residential properties once a week. In addition to this, convention centre which CHB is planning to construct in IT Park on the pattern of the India Habitat Centre, Delhi, will have malls, flats and also old age home.
Sources in CHB said that the auction will start by middle of January. “We have identified the properties and shall soon take off on this. Once a week a commercial property shall be auctioned and next week a residential one,” said an official. Over 50,000 houses in the city have been constructed by CHB, which is 25% of the total houses in the city. “We are also drafting a plan of the convention centre and shall soon start processing it. Besides mall and flats, there will be rehabilitation centre for the elderly,” said a senior official at CHB.
The estate office had halted to go online for the auction but CHB shall take it forward. The estate office had decided to hold on with the auction as they observed a recessionary trend in the realty market. For economic weaker section (EWS) category, the base price would be from Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh; for low income group (LIG), from Rs 35 to Rs 40 lakh; for middle income group (MIG), from Rs 55 to Rs 60 lakh; and from Rs 75 to Rs 80 lakh for the high income group (HIG) category.
