BELAGAVI: Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI- Belagavi unit), which adopted the Rakaskop reservoir for de-siltation as a part of social commitment, symbolically commenced work on Monday.
Taking opportunity of draught, the district authority has decided to take up the de-silting works of lakes and reservoirs in association with various private organization and firms. In the recently held meeting, DC N Jayaram had appealed to CREDAI to take-up de-siltation work of Rakaskop reservoir, one among the main source of water to Belagavi city.
Work was commenced in the presence of additional DC Suresh Itnal, city corporation commissioner G Prabhu and BUDA commissioner Shashidhar Kurer. CREDAI Belagavi president Qais Noorani gave start to the work symbolically on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Basav Jayanti.
Speaking to reporters, Noorani said lakes and reservoirs had never been emptied like this year since decades. Hence, no question of de-silting arrived. Now this is good chance for de-silting work as all tanks are dried-up. The district authority has taken good initiative, he said.
