Newly-laid roads and footpaths in the Whitefield suburbs near Hoodi Circle, Yamlur Junction and several other streets were damaged after BJP flags and posters were put up on Sunday, earning the widespread criticism of residents.
“A newly laid road, barely a year old and one of the few good roads, was being dug up to install flagpoles. There were banners everywhere and we heard that a meeting with State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa was the occasion for the mass posters everywhere,” said Zibi Jamal, spokesperson of Whitefield Rising, a citizens’ group.
The residents of Whitefield area have had long-standing complaints about the state of roads, and improved infrastructure had been hard-won through consistent campaigning.
Meanwhile, the pictures of the campaign materials and damage to public property were doing the rounds on social media sites with several residents coming down heavily on Arvind Limbavali, area MLA.
