Four plots in Salt Lake will go under the hammer this Tuesday . The plots, to be auctioned on the net, will be developed for commercial purposes by its owners.
The state urban development department has invited offers from interested firms for allotting the plots -one at Sector I and the other at Sector III. The plots are of 48, 58, 54 and 9 acres, respectively .
According to department officials, the plots will be handed over to the highest bidders only if their bid is higher than the minimum reserve price. After allotment, the new owners will not be able to make any change of use of the plot other than the purpose on the which the plot will be auctioned.
The lessee will have to start construction on the allotted plot within six months and complete construction within three years from the date of possession. All the plots are located at prime positions, two of them near the Salt Lake Swimming pool area at BF and CF blocks. The area already has a number of commercial establishments, including some popular restaurants. The plot at JC Block is located off the Broadway Road.
The urban development department had earlier made some changes in the rules regarding residential and commercial plots in the township. Earlier, using a part of a residential building for commercial purpose was not allowed but the rule was later changed, with the government now allowing residential houses to be used for about 60 different kinds of pollution-free business activities.
