KOCHI: When issues of faulty construction and agreement violations by builders are brought up before CREDAI, the organization said that buyers ‘must check the veracity of builders before signing a cheque’.
CREDAI executive member, MV Antony said buyers should do background check on the builder and review the quality of projects commissioned earlier. Moreover, buyers should be cautious while considering ‘offers’ announced by builders as there are many hidden aspects.
The association said that they had a complaint redressal forum and any aggrieved person can submit a complaint providing complete details of the project and builder. “We inform the builder about the complaint and ask them to address it. If it is not resolved, then an expert committee goes into the merits and demerits of the case. Except for a few cases, we are able to reach a settlement,” added Antony.
Credai said that issues related to poor cash flow, when the market faced adverse conditions, might slow project progress and thus there might be a delay. Investors or buyers are always apprehensive when delays are seen and the builder has to reach an amicable settlement with them to complete the project.
