Bengaluru, Jan 11: In a good news for IT empoyees, the Karnataka government on Monday, Jan 11 announced that a special route/lane has been finalised, that will cover the area from MG road to Hope Farm junction via Whitefield in Bengaluru. However, buses will also pass through the Old Airport Road, Domlur, Marathahalli, ITPB, Whitefield and to Hope Farm, which is midway between Whitefield and HAL campuses.
The date of launch will be finalised next week when all the Bengaluru related concerned authorities will conduct a meet. Moreover, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation ( BMTC), Bruhut Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP), and the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) will be conducting a special meeting in which they will finalise the final design for the route. It has been finalised that the Volvo buses that head towards Marathahalli, Whitefield and Hope Farm, which is on the way to Whitefield, will be operational on the special lane.
However, the special route has been finalised for the IT sector to give convenience to the techies, who work in and near ITPL area. The BMTC is working out on the timings and schedules of these buses and the buses that head to Whitefield from Majestic, like route number– 335E and 335C, would be expected to take the special lane.
Meanwhile, the official of Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) told a media organisation that the route has been finalised and only design approval is yet to be done. “All officials have to decide on whether the bus bay should look different from the usual bus stops, what facilities the bus bay should have, and how much distance will be maintained between two bus bays, and the like. If the special lane model becomes successful, the model will be tried out in other areas like Hebbal-KR Puram-Silk board, where the travel density is high”, he concluded
