In Kolkata, home sales dip 10%, prices rise 2% in H1’16: Report

KOLKATA: In the first six months of 2016 end-users home sales in the city had dipped by 10% though price had firmed up 2%, a report on real estate said.

Global real estate property consultant Knight Frank India on Tuesday launched the fifth edition of its flagship half yearly report – India Real Estate.

The report presents a comprehensive analysis of the residential market performance of the Kolkata for the period between January-June 2016 (H1 2016).

It stated, Rajarhat witnessed the largest share of new launches and sales in H1 2016, primarily due to the presence of the office sector and the on-going infrastructure projects, and accounted for majority of the affordable and mid-end projects launched in H1 2016.

New launches in North Kolkata declined in H1 2015, but it still holds potential in the forthcoming periods owing to impending infrastructure and its proximity to Rajarhat as well as the international airport.
