JAIPUR: In a smart move towards the smart city, the urban development and housing (UDH) department approved online building plans of two commercial projects on Tuesday.
This was for the first time that online approval was given since the online ‘Building Plan Approval System’ (BPAS) was initiated by the state government on June 6. The projects approved are for Bhiwadi and Udaipur.
It is claimed that the new digital system is expected to make the process of building plan approval less cumbersome and more transparent, and leave little scope for corruption.
UDH minister, Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, said, “It is a matter of pride that Rajasthan is first state in the country to initiate the online BPAS in all the districts. Apart from fast clearance of projects, there will be transparency and simplification in the system.”
The online system will help in approving plans in a time-bound manner through a single-window system. “Now within maximum 30 days the building plan will be cleared online. A fast track approval will also be in place by August 1,” added a senior official.
The BPAS is hosted on Single Sign on the website of State Government https://sso.rajasthan.gov.in under implementation of ‘Business Reform Action Plan 2015’ of Ease Of Doing Business (EODB) by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP). This benefit can also be availed of in the ongoing Single Window Clearance System (http://swcs.rajasthan.gov.in/).
The applicants can register on the website and submit the requisite documents. There is a single ID, a personal dashboard for accessing information and status of the online applications by the applicant. The BPAS covers end-to-end solutions for the applicant by way of providing online submission, processing, site inspection, release of building plan approval as well as payment of the fee.
Under this project, BPAS has been already implemented throughout the state covering all local bodies & urban development authorities, UITs and RIICO.
