LUCKNOW: After LDA and UP Housing and Development Board, it is LMC’s turn to try a hand at real estate development. For the first time, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is coming up with four housing projects on two prominent roads of the city -Shaheed Path and Hardoi Road. On Sunday, it will announce the commencement of construction of these projects which would offer about 1,800 flats by 2019.
State minister of urban development Azam Khan would lay the foundation stone of these residential projects on Sunday from Chakbast Kothi near Kaiserbagh. LMC officials said these 1,800 flats would offer all segments of houses -HIG, MIG, LIG and even EWS, depending on people’s needs.
While three housing projects would be built in Para village near Hardoi Road on LMC’s land, one multistoreyed housing project would be constructed near Shaheed Path. Para projects would offer 573, 352 and 144 flats respectively in each building while the one near Shaheed Path would offer 721 flats.
An LMC official said, “LMC will engage its own contractors to build these projects. Flat allotment would be based on a lottery system.“ LMC has lands in many parts of the city which get encroached upon for lying vacant and unused for long. The housing project had been in the pipeline for long and its detailed report was prepared last year.
