DEHRADUN: The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) on Thursday launched its housing scheme for higher income group (HIG) near ISBT here. This is the second such scheme launched by MDDA which had came up with an affordable housing scheme in 2013.
Under the new scheme, 338 flats of 1,954 square feet each have been developed. The cost of a flat will be approximately Rs 65 lakh. The amenities will include a parking, gym, cafeteria, club etc.
The MDDA scheme in 2013 had focused on lower income group (LIG) and had flats that fell in the price range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. The possession of the flats has started earlier this month.
The 338 new flats for higher income group fall in two categories. Buyers can opt for a house with 1,954 square feet area that will cost them Rs 65 lakh or go for a penthouse with an approximate area of 3,280 square feet and a price of Rs 72 lakh.
Talking to TOI, P C Dumka, secretary, MDDA, said, “We are charging much less than private builders.” Around 116 flats have been sold under the scheme and construction is expected to be completed within two years.
Some people who had bought flats under the previous MDDA housing scheme had complained that there was no water or electricity connections in the flats. MDDA officials then claimed that the owners would have to get individual water and electricity connections.
