NEW DELHI: Mitsubishi Elevator India has set up a new plant at Vemgal near Bengaluru to manufacture elevators for the Indian market.
A subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric, the firm’s new plant is spread over 89,000 sq metres and has a manufacturing capacity of 5,000 units annually. The first elevator is scheduled to be delivered in December 2016. The plant can be expanded to increase production in the future.
Mitsubishi Elevator, by producing locally will aim to strengthen its product competitiveness in terms of price and cut down on delivery time by focusing on its NEXIEZ-LITE elevator model for low to mid-rise buildings in the Indian market.
“We recognize the growth potential of the Indian economy and through the launch will directly cater to the emerging elevator market, which is now the world’s second largest after China,” said Iwao Oda, managing director for Mitsubishi Elevator India.
“Mitsubishi Elevator India emphasises on the safety and quality of all the products, it will be a collaborative effort of Japanese technology with trained Japanese technicians training their Indian counterparts and working towards well-being of Indian society,” he said.
As part of Make in India initiative, the new manufacturing facility at Vemgal will roll out new series of products and will be the company’s 14th manufacturing facility in the world that have so far supplied elevators, escalators and moving walks in 93 countries world-wide.
Mitsubishi Elevator plans to grow sales volume by strengthening its sales network across the country and by offering more products, he added.
The comapny will reinforce product development with an elevator test tower, approximately 41 meters high, and a field-training centre for installation and maintenance work on the premises of the new factory.
