BHOPAL: As BJP-led Narendra Modi government at the Centre goes tough against black money, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has initiated a move against benami property holders. Revenue minister Uma Shankar Gupta said that he has instructed all collectors to prepare a list of benami properties. “I have instructed all collectors to find and identify benami properties in each district. Once the properties are disclosed, legal proceedings will be initiated,” the minister said.
Sources in the secretariat said that government has knowledge that a large number of influential persons have acquired properties in the names of their relatives, employees and servants. Revenue minister Uma Shankar Gupta has directed collectors to prepare a list of benami properties, so legal action can be initiated. Gupta, however, refused to give any more details.
