NOIDA: One year into their stay, Noida Extension residents are facing problems related to basic infrastructure. They allege they are being charged exorbitant amounts as maintenance charges by builders. Demanding regulation of maintenance and power charges, and a check on other infrastructure issues, Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) on Wednesday met the chairman of Noida Authority and asked for his immediate intervention in the matter.
“We have expressed the need for regulation of maintenance and power backup charges, for speedy construction of internal roads, for lighting of internal streets within societies and regularised water supply,” said Abhishek Kumar, president, NEFOWA. “We have received a positive response from the Authority on all issues,” he added.
The residents have, for long, been protesting that there is no standardisation in the miscellaneous maintenance charges in societies in the area as different builders charge different charges. “Even after getting possession of their apartments, those who have started living in Noida extension are facing problems related to basic infrastructure,” said Indrish Gupta, co-founder, NEFOWA. “Roads are not constructed, people are dependent on power backups, the apartments are running on ground water. We expressed the need for a speedy correction of this situation. The chairman has promised intervention,” he added.
