NOIDA: With the intention to further extend green lungs to the city, Noida Authority has started working to develop more parks including NCR’s biggest park. The officials said that this year 35 additional parks with over 250 acre size to be developed in various locations. The city has already nearly 600 parks developed on 350 acre land. The officials target to plant nearly four loch trees on new parks.
On explaining the details Noida Authority chairman and CEO Rama Raman said that this year 35 new parks to be developed. Some of park have huge size Saheed Bhagat Singh Park over 42 acre in Sector 150 and herbal garden in Sector 91 over 29 acre. Raman said that punch line of Noida is ‘clean Noida Green Noida’. “To implement the punch line of Noida that is clean Noida green Noida, we have given handsome space to green cover under the master plan. This year, the authority will develop 35 additional parks, having different sizes from one acre to 75 acre,” he added.
The officials said that all parks to be equipped with clusters of medicinal plants, various varieties including neem, Arjun, amaltas, Ashok, palms, and coconut, and medicinal shrubs including tulsi, lavender, aloe vera, hibiscus and sunflower. “Display boards with the nomenclature of the plant and its use for a particular ailment will be displayed prominently for visitors. Plants used to treat illnesses in different parts of the human body like the nervous system, skin and digestive system will be planted in different clusters,” Raman added.
Ombeer Singh, director horticulture in Noida Authority said, “These parks falls in various sectors including 27, 54, 76, 77, 78, 119, 112, 119, 116, 120, 143B. 91 etc. Apart from that Noida has come up with greenest sector 150 in NCR. 80 percent of Sector 150 is green. This sector will have biggest park in a residential sector. Saheed Bhagat Singh park over 42 acre is developed in Sector 150. With development of these parks. We have targeted to plant four lakh trees of different varieties this year,” said Singh.
“The Noida Authority will develop a 29-acre medicinal garden in Sector 91, where over 25,000 plants and trees with healing properties will be cultivated, with the aim of raising awareness about the traditional therapeutic value of plants. The park to be loaded with herbal garden, open amphi theater, mediation place, zero discharge natural lake etc,” Singh added that the garden will come at a cost of Rs 25 crore and tenders for the project have been floated and it will be open to the public in two years.
The officials said that Noida has 15 parks, which have over 10 acre size. Each sector is loaded parks which adds more feather in Noida’s cap.
Singh said the equipment will include air walkers, sit-up benches, air swings, stair steppers, equipment for leg press, chest press, bench press, pull-up chairs, parallel bars, sit-up stations, cross-walkers, etc. Singh said that all the machines will be tamper and weather-proof and will be clamped to concrete slabs, making it impossible to move them manually.
