THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The revenue department has launched a facility to remit property taxes online for 82 villages in the district. District collector S Venkatesapathy said that property tax can be remitted and the mutation can be effected online in 82 villages of the 102 villages in the district where resurvey has been completed. There are 121 villages in the district.
Mutation of property will be done at the village office once the information about the registration of property is informed online to the concerned village office. The sub-registrar office will forward the filled form along with the copy of the document online to the village office as both offices are integrated in these villages. The citizen need not visit the village office for mutation as he will be informed that mutation has been enabled and his property tax can be remitted.
The district collector said that the online mutation of the property, which is of immense convenience to the public, will be completed in a time-bound manner in the district. He said that periodic evaluation will be made and under no circumstances will the project be delayed.
Envisaging the necessity of speedy disbursal of services to keep pace with the Right to Information Act and the Right to Services Act, the department had embraced the concept of SMART revenue offices. Through in-house manned IT cells of revenue department and the IT department, e-governance initiatives were launched not only to help the citizens to get speedy, modern, assured, responsible and transparent (SMART) services, but also aimed at equipping the nearly 20, 000 employees of the department to stand up to the Right To Services Act.
