NAGPUR: The National Green Tribunal (NGT), Western Zone Bench, Pune, comprising Justice Jawad Rahim and Ajay Deshpande issued notices to builders of ‘Vrindavan City’ coming up at Jamtha on the city outskirts.
The notices, returnable by April 6, were issued on an application filed by Neeraj and Nikhil Tayal alleging illegal construction being carried out at the site. Nagpur district collector, ministry of environment, forests, and climate change (MoEFCC), Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and state government have also been made parties.
‘Vrindavan City’ is promoted by Radha Madhav Developers. The application alleges the developer started construction without obtaining any prior environment clearance (EC) as contemplated under 8 (b) B1 category that provides for EC for townships covering an area more than 50 hectares or having built up area of 1,50,000 sq mt or more.
The total built up area of Vrindavan City is more than 1, 50,000 sq mt. The applicants allege that the developer has completed around 50,000 sq mt of construction in the said township.
