NOIDA: Noida Authority’s ambitious Rs 200 crore riverfront development project along Yamuna and Hindon rivers could finally see light of day.
Officials said half a dozen companies have shown interest in developing the project and a pre-bid meeting was held in Noida on Tuesday to appoint a consultant for it.
“On Tuesday, we clarified queries about the project and will now finally kick start the process of tenders, and technical and financial bids thereafter,” said P K Agarwal, additional CEO of Noida Authority.
In September last year, the Noida Authority had appointed the Central Water and Power Research Station in Pune to do the groundwork for the project. The consultant carried out a detailed survey and hydraulic studies of the area to determine the location of the green corridor across 5,036 hectares of Noida flood plains area.
“The objective of the riverfront development project is to deal with encroachment and to ensure a clean Hindon. Once developed, the corridor will also offer picnic spots to general public,” Agarwal said.
The project involves developing facilities like parks, yoga centres, picnic spots and sports centres without disrupting the flow of Yamuna. The UP irrigation department has already given the project in-principle nod.
The green corridor has been proposed across 600 acres and across 25km on the Noida to Greater Noida (west) Road near Sector 122. In the first phase, about 200 acres will be acquired and converted into the riverfront area. Once finalised, the technical consultant, they will have to undertake a detailed survey for developing the green corridors, besides preparing the basic design of the project.
As part of the project, eco-friendly cycling tracks, green belts and parks would be developed in the green corridors.
